This combined panel measures serum iron (the amount of iron available in the bloodstream) and the Total Iron-Binding Capacity (TIBC) — which assesses how well your blood’s transferrin protein can carry iron.
It’s most often used to evaluate your iron metabolism and storage status — including iron deficiency anemia, iron overload conditions (like hereditary hemochromatosis), or disruptions of transport/absorption.
