Growth Hormone (GH), also called somatotropin, is secreted by the pituitary gland and plays a key role in growth, metabolism, and bodily repair. Because GH is released in pulses, random measurements are often less meaningful than stimulation or suppression testing.
This test helps evaluate GH deficiency or excess, such as pituitary adenomas (acromegaly) or hypopituitarism, by assessing hormone secretion patterns and response to provocative agents.
