This panel tests for three EBV-specific antibodies: Viral Capsid Antigen (VCA) IgM, VCA IgG, and Epstein-Barr Nuclear Antigen (EBNA) IgG.
VCA IgM positivity suggests a recent or acute infection.
VCA IgG positivity indicates past or present exposure.
EBNA IgG develops ~6–8 weeks after infection and persists for life, helping distinguish older from newer infection.
